The Rothko Room: Journeys In Silence

Haskell Small was inspired by the “animation and passion” of Mark Rothko’s paintings, especially those featured in The Rothko Room at the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C. His work, “The Rothko Room: Journeys in Silence” offers a musical narrative of the painter's tumultuous life. Also on this recording is Small’s “Visions of Childhood”, which was partially inspired by Schumann’s “Scenes from Childhood,” and Small’s 2013 composition, “A Glimpse of Silence.”
